Practical Travel Tips for Kids: "
The London Daily Telegraph Travel Section featured a great, 50-point list of practical travel tips.' The tips concerning kids (where practicality is most prized) seemed insightful.' Here are three of the best:
Ditch your principles concerning games and portable entertainment.' Many already know the airport value in having a portable DVD player (or one you can access on a laptop computer).' Some parents restrict the amount of TV time and try to limit computer games.' The Telegraph makes the point that the Game Boy you may or may not appreciate is worth its weight in gold in the increasingly common circumstance of a multiple hour flight delay.
Keep them busy by assigning active roles in the airport and boarding processes.' Have them find the check-in desk and check for departure status.' Try to make them partners in the security search process (instead of dispossessed victims).' Let them take the lead in finding the departure gate.
Think bold by dressing your kids in the brightest colors they will stand.' You need to be able to spot yours in airport crowds, in hotel lobbies and in public places on your route.' The brighter the better.
